In May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will apply in the UK.  This means that the UK Data Protection Act 1998 will be superseded.  The new legislation amongst other things, specifies requirements in relation to:

  • how you ask for consent;
  • how you deal with breaches and breach notification;
  • the minimum amount of information to be provided to service users / staff;
  • the rights for people to have more say over what you can do with their data (information).

The new legislation also brings in for serious breaches. Organisations were given a two year lead in period to become compliant with GDPR and your organisation must be compliant by May 2018.

Who should attend?
This awareness session is jointly supported by Neath Port Talbot CVS and BAVO and is relevant for trustees, board members and  managers. It will give you an understanding of how GDPR impacts on you and your organisation and what you need to do now to prepare for compliance deadlines.
