GDPR for the third sector – an introduction
19 February 2019 - Cardiff
This half day course will provide you with key information about the new General Data Protection Regulation, ensuring your organisation can comply with this important new set of laws.
This course is intended for all staff who handle personal data as part of their day to day role, for data protection leads, and for anyone with a general interest in the changes introduced by the new data protection regime
On the 25 May 2018 we experienced the biggest change in data protection laws in twenty years with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Given the substantial impact and the role that data has in both our personal and professional lives, GDPR provides a new set of laws designed to ensure that the highest standards of data protection are at the heart of your operations. This course will cover the key areas of the new regulation and will give you a complete GDPR overview. It will help those involved with the handling of people's information to be able to adopt these practises within their organisation.
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Use key Data Protection terminology with confidence;
- Identify the main changes introduced by GDPR;
- Use the information to perform your role in a way that is compliant with GDPR;
- Explain how to draft a privacy notice;
- Describe the main reasons why charities have been fined by the ICO.
