Building a Brighter Future in Tech to expand its reach across Wales

Date published: 06/02/2018

The hugely successful Building a Brighter Future in Tech is returning in 2018 with two brand new events tologo promote career paths in the tech industry.

Following the initial success of its inaugural event in Techniquest in 2017, the free events run by Codez Academy in partnership with Technocamps and the Welsh Government will be held in Neuadd Reichel, Bangor on St David’s Day (1 March) and will also reach the Marriott Hotel, Swansea on International Woman’s Day (8 March)

With support already secured from Gemma Hallet, Founder of miFuture, and BT Cymru, Building a Brighter Future in Tech will be open to anyone over the age of 16 who has an interest in learning about career opportunities in tech from experts in their fields.

During the course of the events, attendees will have the chance to participate in a number of workshops delivered by seasoned tech industry professionals around problem solving, HTML, social media presence and beginning your journey into tech. It is hoped that these workshops will answer common questions and will help break down barriers for those considering moving into tech roles.

Dean Jenkins, Founder of Codez Academy said: “We had much success at our first event, more than we initially anticipated – the turnout and feedback was truly phenomenal which made us all very proud. That’s why we are so thrilled to be able to bring a Brighter Future in Tech to other areas of Wales, including North Wales and Swansea. This means we’ll be able to support and encourage more people, particularly women who are looking to change careers, perhaps after having children.

“To me, the success of our initial event demonstrations the genuine requirement for additional support for those looking to take a career path in tech roles. We’re very much looking forward to delivering two new events in Wales on St David’s Day and International Women’s Day.

“Our overall aim with these events is to help more people find their footing in their career, especially in the tech industry, and help Wales become a booming country with a strong tech industry that offers a plethora of job options.”

The events are also being supported by BT Cymru. Speaking of the events, Alwen Williams, Director of BT Cymru said: “It was incredible to be involved in the inaugural Building a Brighter Future in Tech event last year and I’m very pleased to see that its success has transpired into a further two events happening across Wales. BT Cymru is proud to be supporting these events which encourage people, regardless of their demographic, to get involved in the tech industry.”
