Fundraising Regulator: one year on
Date published: 21/07/2017
The first round of Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW) engagement events took place on 10, 11 and 13 July 2017 in Powys, Merthyr Tydfil and Flintshire, with a focus on the role of the new Fundraising Regulator, and its work over the first year of operation.
Third sector organisations learned about the new levy, aimed primarily at charities that spend more than £100,000 a year on fundraising activities, the Fundraising Code of Practice, the Fundraising Preference Service, and how the General Data Protection Regulator, which comes into force in May 2018, will impact on fundraising. The Institute of Fundraising Health Check and Executive Coaching offer was also presented.
The presentations from the Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising Cymru can be found on the events section of the Third Sector Support Wales website.
Third Sector Support Wales is a network of support organisations for the whole of the third sector in Wales. It consists of the 19 local and regional support bodies across Wales, the County Voluntary Councils (CVCs) and the national support body, Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). We have joined together to deliver work jointly around four pillars:
- Sustainable Funding
- Good governance
- Influencing and engagement
Third Sector Support Wales engagement events will take place at three different locations across Wales, three times p/a, each with a focus on a different pillar of activity. The next round of events will take place in November (dates and locations to be confirmed) and the theme will be good governance.
