The Taff Ely Wind Farm Community Fund has invested over £40,000 into local activities and projects in communities living closest to the wind farm e.g. Blackmill, Evanstown, Gilfach Goch, Tonyrefail, Thomastown, Llanharan, Bryncae & Heol Y Cyw.
Last year was the third year Interlink has managed the fund and they launched earlier this year to allow more time for projects to be delivered.
Last year the fund allocated £2,500 in grants to Avant Theatre & Dance Group, Brynna Football Club, Gilfach Goch Mini & Junior Rugby, Heol Y Cyw Allotments, Little Fingers Kids Club and Tonyrefail Ladies Choir.
“The funding helped us run weekly intergenerational drama workshops in Newlife Church, Capel Farm Community Centre and Ty Erion Care Home.” Rachel, Avant;
“The funding helped us to purchase new training equipment and kit so that our junior players can practice weekly and hold tournaments of our own.” Michael, Brynna Juniors;
“The fund supported us to renew the access road and fencing through the allotments opening up the site to disabled gardeners. Everyone now says how nice our allotments look.” Claire, Heol Y Cyw Allotments;
“The funding was used to purchase IT equipment and provide internet access to children in kids club for education and homework projects." Michelle, Little Fingers;
“The funding meant that we were able to continue our weekly rehearsals enabling us to perform at local concerts & fund raising events.” Deidre, Tonyrefail Ladies Choir.
