Mental health in the workplace

Work related mental health problems such as anxiety, depression or stress are an issue too important for businesses to ignore. Employees are still experiencing high levels of stress at work which impacts on their physical and mental health.

Work is the biggest cause of stress in people’s lives, and stops them from performing at their best. Work related stress is the biggest occupational health problem in the UK, after musculoskeletal disorders such as back problems.

Improving mental wellbeing in the workplace doesn’t have to cost a lot. Organisations which offered flexible working hours and generous annual leave said such measures supported their mental wellbeing.
