In every Prison in England and Wales there is a group of volunteers who form the Independent Monitoring Board. They are appointed by the Minister of Justice and their role is to monitor respect and fairness for people in custody.

The Board at HMP and YOI Parc is keen to recruit more members and we are currently running a campaign which will end on October 31st. 2018

You don’t need special qualifications or experience, and all necessary training and support will be provided. If you live within 20 miles of the prison, and are able to commit around four or five visits a month we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Mind

Tender to become a research partner for Mind’s mental health social prescribing programme in Wales

Welsh Government has funded Mind to trial a mental health-specific social prescribing service. The project will be logomanaged nationally by Mind Cymru and delivered by four local Mind delivery partners: Merthyr and the Valleys Mind; Vale of Clwyd Mind; Brecon and District Mind and Ystradgynlais Mind.

Between February 2019 and January 2021, Mind aim to engage 1,500 primary care service users.

Mind is looking to appoint an independent research partner to conduct a randomised control trial, exploring the service’s impact on individual and system-level outcomes compared to care as usual.

Board meetings are usually held in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood once a quarter, but they are seeking Trustees who can support them in representing and supporting the organisation in a variety of ways.
