What is the Bridgend Health Social Care and Well-Being Network?

The network is a collective group of voluntary organisations who work in the field of health social care and wellbeing in Bridgend. It provides a voice for voluntary organisations by sharing information, involving organisations in consultations and reviews and encouraging involvement in partnership working.

Network members will have:

  • Newsletters and email briefings giving regular news on funding opportunities, training, conferences, good practice and consultations on policy and strategy.
  • Invites to events and discussion groups which include networking and presentations on issues of current interest.
  • The opportunity to engage in responses to consultations relating to health and social care.
  • The opportunity to act as voluntary sector representatives on planning and strategic groups.
  • The opportunity to join specialist interest groups, forums and task groups to make recommendations about specific issues.

Regional

Regional Health Social Care & Well Being Network

A Regional Health, Social Care and Wellbeing (HSCWB) network has been created to establish and increase dialogue between the Third Sector in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend and the Abertawe Bro-Morgannwg University (ABMU) Health Board.  The vision being to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for people living in the ABMU Health Board area; reducing health inequalities, promoting social wellbeing within communities, preventing ill-health, aiding recovery and independence.

The Network will meet four times a year and be supported by the three Building Strong Bridges Health, Social Care & Wellbeing Facilitators based at Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service (NPTCVS), Swansea Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS) and Bridgend Association for Voluntary Organisations (BAVO).

The Regional HSCWB Network will be represented at ABMU Health Board meetings by the current Non-Executive Third Sector Representative.  It is envisaged that representatives from the network will be formally nominated by members to sit on the AMBU Health Board’s Stakeholder Reference Group.

Building Strong Bridges

The Welsh Assembly Government recognises that the voluntary sector is a key partner in delivering its health and well being agenda.

The Building Strong Bridges initiative was established in 2003 with its aim: "To strengthen partnership working between the Voluntary Sector and the NHS in Wales".

Under this initiative a Facilitator has been appointed to work in every CVC in Wales. Full details of each of the facilitators is available here.

Role of the Facilitator:

  • To support and promote joint working between voluntary organisations and health and social care providers.
  • To support voluntary sector and carer members on Local Health Boards.
  • To develop and support local Health and Social Care Networks.
  • To directly participate in joint planning groups and represent the voluntary sector.
  • To promote the role and contribution of the voluntary sector to other health and social care agencies.
  • To provide information and training to local voluntary organisations around health and social care issues e.g:
    • Briefings and seminars
    • Local newsletters
    • Facilitate access to training
    • Facilitate participation and consultation in policy development locally and nationally
    • Assist voluntary organisations to access development support.
