Funding Workers Network
The Funding Workers Network (FWN) is open to all community and voluntary organisations who fundraise. Your fundraisers may be either paid employees or volunteers, all fundraisers are equally welcome to attend and meetings are usually held quarterly.
BAVO staff are also on hand at these meetings to provide the latest information updates, advice and guidance on anything to do with fundraising, whether it be through sponsorship, Give as You Earn, Social Fundraisers or Trust fund applications and bids.
The Network enables fundraisers to come together and share best practice and knowledge on any fundraising issues. It also provides attendees with invaluable information on a range of local, regional and national funding streams, including deadlines for applications and examples of successful project applications and bids.
From time to time the Network invites guest speakers from various agencies and Trusts to talk about their grant giving policies and what makes a successful bid.
Additionally, twice a year BAVO organises a 'Meet the Funder' day, where Trusts and funders present information on their organisations and the types of project they support.
In summary, this network aims to make your fundraising efforts more streamlined, effective and successful, so it is worth getting in touch with BAVO to find out how you can get involved and when the next meeting is.
If you are interested in receiving information, please contact our admin team or visit our Events page for more details on upcoming funding information days.
Institute of Fundraising
The FWN recognises and supports the recently developed Codes of Fundraising Practice launched by the Institute of Fundraising.
The Codes represent the standards set for fundraisers in the UK. Each code covers a separate fundraising technique and provides not only information on areas of the law and guidance on the techniques themselves, but also the best practice that the fundraising sector has set itself to ensure the highest standards.
Voluntary and Community Organisations have a duty of care to ensure that the trust invested in, and confidence given to, the voluntary and community sector by central and local Government, police authorities, community advice bodies and most importantly, the public, is maintained.
The Institute believes that developing and encouraging standards in fundraising is the key to achieving this, removing barriers to allow the sector to build healthy and productive partnerships.
The Institute urges all voluntary and community organisations that fundraise to adopt these Codes and commit to the standards within them.
