BAVO co-ordinates and facilitates a number of forums and networks bringing together third sector organisations that work with children, youth and families.  The networks provide an opportunity for sharing ideas, best practice and combining service delivery in order to offer  County wide co-ordinated services and a menu of options to service users.

The networks are linked into various strategic agenda's through direct representation of members in some local partnership meetings, or via BAVO staff.

Forums also have regular meetings with statutory providers and commissioners of services in order to raise the needs of their service users, shape their services and maximise investment into child, youth and family support activities.  BAVO also supports consortium approaches for third sector delivery in order to minimise duplication, reduce gaps in provision and to maximise opportunities for the local third sector to diversify their income streams in order to fulfill and grow their ambitions for extended services and ultimately, improving outcomes for young people.

Third sector providers offer good quality, tailored, value for money services with the key outcomes of their work being to improve the wellbeing of local young people and their families.

If you would like to join the Youth Support Network, please contact BAVO for details call 01656 810400 or email

Keeping children safe is everyone's business.

From the 1 April 2013,  Neath Port Talbot , Swansea and Bridgend Safeguarding Children Boards became the Western Bay Safeguarding Children Board (WBSCB). The regionalisation was in response to the proposed Social Services (Wales) Bill.

SCBs are the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how the relevant organisations in each area will cooperate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and for ensuring the effectiveness of what they do.

Click here for information for children and young people, families/ carers and anyone who works with children. It also provides an overview of the responsibilities, structure and work of the WB SCB.
